We like past because it’s present that has survived in human memory.
Ok but what is transitive design?
From Latin « transire » which means « go beyond ». The term of « transitive design » appears at the end of the nineteenth century and refers to industrial products bridging the past and the future. This is the first time a concept introduces the idea of emotional memory in the cold world of industry.
Objects from transitive design are neither vintage nor retro but are part of a world in perpetual motion and change. They are considered as « time shuttles », as projects that have been thought and designed in way to reconcile and reassure two tensions: projection desire on the one hand, fear of tomorrow the other hand.
Relationships to the past are based on memory of events, objects and/or sensations that belong to distant stories, that we remind with affection.
Transitive design is the trademark of klokers. Each item is inspired by objects from the past, whose emblematic uses are still there buried away in the collective subconscious. And so it is that KLOK-01 brings to mind the circular slide rule, once used in mathematics. klokers timepieces are part of a transverse reality. They offer a means to travel between yesterday and tomorrow, being resolutely focused on the future.
